Payments can be placed in an escrow account at Bank Mandiri. The bank verifies each construction milestone before releasing funds to the developer, so money is only paid out for work that has actually been completed and confirmed.

Budget for the transfer tax (BPHTB, 5% of the transaction value), notary and certificate fees, annual land and building tax (PBB, about 0.5% of assessed value), and 10% Indonesian withholding tax on rental income. Owners also declare rental income in their home country, usually with credit for tax already paid in Indonesia.
